PROJECT TITLE | ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) Configuration Management
PROJECT ROLE | Program Management Office (PMO) - ITIL configuration management
CLIENT | USAITA, Pentagon - United States Department of Defense (US DOD)
OBJECTIVE | To help the agency establish centralized and standard information repository through the ITIL compliant federated configuration management database (CMDB).
SCOPE | To develop a methodology that enables capture of requirements, create processes according to the ITIL Framework and facilitate implementation of the CMDB. The scope encompasses the conception, development and implementation of CMDB for various entities and the various CMDBs within these entities across USAITA.

BACKGROUND

The IT infrastructure at USAITA had become enormous and complex. To manage the complex IT issues, support business services and enhance the core operational processes, the agency planned to create a central valuable source of information that was needed for the IT personnel other departments within the organization.

SOLUTION

ANGARAI initiated, gathered, consolidated, documented and tracked the configuration items (CI). The ITIL framework was selected and implemented to help standardize methods of infrastructure management for improved business risk assessment and change planning; support asset lifecycle management; audit license use and compliance; and recording of various data (e.g. service catalog, financial data, service levels, and contract records).
