PROJECT TITLE | KRONOS Time and Attendance Implementation
PROJECT ROLE | Project Management Support
CLIENT | Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA)
OBJECTIVE | To assess WMATA's Operational Landscape; understand its needs towards Workforce Time & Attendance Management; recommend the right COTS solution to effectively fulfill that need; configure COTS Product and manage its implementation and integration with WMATA Accounting System and PeopleSoft; train WMATA workforce and other support personnel.
SCOPE | To implement KRONOS Workforce Timekeeper at WMATA and its integration with PeopleSoft by coordinating the activities of cross functional project teams; creating and monitoring and managing project plans, schedules, scope risks, issues, costs, changes; coordinate multiple service or product providers; assist in policy formulation, re-investment decisions, external/internal resource decisions, organization planning, learning, and effective use of the IT function; identify target processes, maximize efficiencies, manage change and leverage technology investments to re-engineer the enterprise business functions; analyze current workflow processes, plan changes and improvements to these processes. Implement new and efficient workflow processes and workflow management systems; recommend purchasing of hardware and software; highlight current technology market trends and conditions; develop functional and/or design specifications. Technical writing and documentation; mentor WMATA personnel on all tasks by forming hybrid project teams facilitating cooperation and smooth transition process and mitigating attrition/ turnover risks; provide KRONOS WTK Training for Technical, SME, and Operational personnel; manage the Change Process by instituting Champions for Change & Train The Trainer techniques.

BACKGROUND

WMATA sought to implement an IT time management solution for its workforce. ANGARAI worked with KRONOS and provided Project Management, Engagement Management, Application Development & Support services for this implementation and its integration with PeopleSoft and for ORIM Implementation at Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.

SOLUTION

ANGARAI successfully conceived, established and implemented Project Management Office focusing on: bus and rail scheduling; operator scheduling; accounting; budgeting and costing functions; human resources and payroll functions; material and maintenance management covering inventory, fleet management , work order scheduling , preventive and corrective maintenance activities with a primary focus of consolidating and optimizing resources, identifying areas of efficiency and better utilization of WMATA assets. ANGARAI's Support included the following activities :
  •   Provided Project Management Support for KRONOS in the Time & Attendance Implementation.
  •   Project Initiation activities from Project Charter, Communication Plan, Roles and Responsibilities.
  •   Provided various status reporting and project management activities including Engagement Management, Project      Management, Project Justification, and Management Reporting.
  •   Evaluation and comparison of the PeopleSoft Time & Attendance offering with KRONOS and evaluating that with          WMATA needs and requirements.
  •   Review and recommendations on KRONOS implementation and the PeopleSoft ERP product.
